The entire 406 range (saloon, estate, and coupe) right from 1996 through to 2004 were equipped with 4-stud hubs and wheels only.
The 407 seems to have 5-stud wheels, but I have no idea how easy it might be to transplant the hubs from one car to the other.

Not with the 406. The saloon, estate, or coupe, regardless of engine type, has 4 stud wheels.
I know this because you can take the wheels off a V6 coupe and stick 'em on a saloon or estate.

I can think of 5 options:
1. get some adaptor plates. Obviously this will offset the wheels further out by something like an inch.
2. adapt the hubs - have them welded and redrilled for 5 studs. Obviously a bit hard when the bearings don't come out of the hubs.
3. spend hours in a large breakers measuring hubs. You might have to go without abs because the stator rings are part of the rear hubs.
4. adapt the wheels - have them welded and redrilled for 4 studs.
5. sell them and buy more appropriate wheels.

The 407 is a completely different suspension/hub/brake setup, chalk and cheese.

There is one 406 that I know of which has 5 stud wheels. It's an ex-BTCC coupé with custom made hubs
