discovered the other night my discs are warped, travelling at motorway speeds there is quite a judder through the steering wheel and to a lesser extent through the pedal, so when i get paid next month i am planning on having the pads and discs renewed
read through the haynes and it throws a couple of things i hope people could help with
1: it says to renew the guide pin bolts, is this really necessary?
2:when pushing the caliper piston back in to fit the new pads it recommends using a G clamp or other "suitable"tool. would a screw driver or similar work?
3:do i need to tighten to correct torque settings(i dont possess a torque wrench)or just use spanners and tighten as tight as poss??
4: i am planning on buying the kit from ebay, is it the 283mm disc i need??
any other tips or hints appreciated
i can get the car in to a one man mechanic who i think will charge £20 a side iirc. at that price is it even worth getting my hands dirty??
thanks for replies in advance

check which discs your car needs, im sure the 1.8 petrol are different from all the other models

i have always managed to change discs and pads with a general car socket set, screwdriver set

of course trolley jack and the most important AXLE STANDS. safety comes 1st wen working on cars

ive always used a screwdriver to sprize the caliper piston back

take the lid of the brake fluid tank under bonnet and put a cloth over the top just in case any decides to over spill

if you trust him to do the job then okay but its a easy straight forward job
bought my discs and pads for 50 pounds with a trade card from halfords.
