Handbrake, (rear discs) shoe retaining clips

Post by Doggy »

My bro has just reminded me that when we last checked his handbrake, one of the pin/spring/cap sets that hold the shoes to the backplate was missing.

Does anyone know if you can buy these, without buying a set of shoes, since his shoes are OK?
(They're not listed on Service Box, but the ones for holding service brake shoes on cars with drums are, [4308 60 Brake Shoe Spring Set], any chance they're the same)?

I bought a set from a local motor factors for about £6. There is a good chance the spring fell out as the holes in the backplates sometimes get worn away so the retaining pins pops out.

You can always put a nut and bolt through it, not too tight though....

You might ask him to take the other one off and try to get one similar that might cost only a few pence...otherwise, there is an alternative if anyone needs shoe fitting kits or odds and ends related to fitting pads and shoes....http://brakeparts.co.uk/#page=parts&pag ... 2.1+DIESEL

The set from LMF has 4 retaining pins with springs, as well as the 4 bigger springs to hold the shoes together. There may be cheaper alternatives but I was caught short.......
