Re: Tyre Sizes
My Volvo runs 205/50 R17 but I wanted to change that to the more common size of 225/45 R17 (these are fitted to Golfs, Hyundais, Poxhalls and are cheaper by being more popular) but that's when I was challenged by my insurer and Volvo
good job I was honest and enquired first.
Lots of people have done the change anyway and seem oblivious to the fact they've modified the car beyond any recognised standard so are effectively paying for insurance which is already invalid.

Re: Tyre Sizes
It suggests 215/55/R16 W. It also suggests a tyre for 15 inch wheels but that's irrelevant.trem1 wrote:what happens if you put your reg number in kwikfit, I get the choice of 2 different wheel/tyre sizes

Re: Tyre Sizes
My car lists at 3 different combinations of 16, 17 and 18" wheels but you must stick to whatever tyre size relates to the rim size, you can't change this as this is how the car was tested originally. Most rims can accommodate Tyres of differing widths quite happily and this is where some confusion starts.trem1 wrote:what happens if you put your reg number in kwikfit, I get the choice of 2 different wheel/tyre sizes
I can use any of the 3 wheel/tyre sizes without any insurance issues but if I wanted 19's I must declare this and pay the extra.

Re: Tyre Sizes
Many of the guys over at the Coupe Club reckon Avon ZV5s are very good, anyone had an experience with them (or Avons in general)?
They're made in the UK which is quite nice I suppose.
Seems like about £380 for 4 of these (inc. fitting)...

Re: Tyre Sizes
When I bought my alloys they were from a V6 coupe and had ZV5's fitted, they were very good in the bends and good in the wet.
Couldn't afford to replace them like for like but tbh the 1.9 didn't warrant them.
