Post by neilhdi »

can anyone shine any light on what the abs preload pump does on my car please im having some trouble with the brakes ive got a pedal that take 3 pumps to make it work as it should, the problem came from no where as i left a motorway junction needless to say the big stone brakes at the side off the road helped me stop!! oh yes it a 53 plate 110hdi exec estate with esp ive blead brake no change was going to change my master cylinder for a secondhand one but its a 3 port unit so rare as hens teeth secondhand then i notticed the strange part that turns out to be the pre load pump, does anyone know what it does??? :x

Does your car have the ESP option? (Electronic Stability Program)
I thought the pump is for that system, in as much as if your car gets into a skid, the ESP system will operate the brakes on one or more corners of the car to attempt to correct your trajectory!
This pump is what pressures up the hydraulics to make things happen...... :!:
