Hi guys,
Just purchased a 406 3.0 v6 coupe and under normal driving there appears to be no problem, but if only doing around 10mph there is a clonk which can also be felt. And if you walk along side car when brakes are applied you can see the front wheel move backwards.
Was told this is a knackered lower rear suspension bush, can anyone comfirm this or maybe had this problem in the past.
Thanks in advance
Russ

Re: Front wheel movement under braking
Hi, welcome
Could well be a lower bush.
Easiest way to check is to have someone pull the wheel back and forth (front to back) while you look for movement in the suspension bushes.....another way is to use a breaker bar and socket on a wheel bolt and move the wheel that way.
No need to jack car up.

Thanks jasper , will try that tomorrow at work when someone can help look and see whats worn.
Re: Front wheel movement under braking
Had this on my V6 estate - bar on the wheel nuts showed movement on mine
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

Re: Front wheel movement under braking
Hi everyone ,
Just to confirm incase anyone else has a similar problem , i had a new lower arm complete with new bushes fitted and now the wheel stays put under braking rather than moving backwards towards wheel arch.
