406 front disc splash guards ?

Post by Kiwi »

Are there supposed to be splash guards on the inside of the front discs ( 406 HDi , 2000 ) , like the rears ? Have just replaced the front discs/pads again and cannot see any brackets, lugs, etc, that indicate something is missing. I have googled but zero results. None of the pad sets have been grooved.

When motorway driving in heavy rain, I've often had a problem with water causing a delay in the front brakes until the pad clear the water. I'm always checking the brakes with left foot and making sure I have mucho distance between me and the car in front. Not the most relaxing of times..............

Thanks ! Not daft at all, I'd had a similar thought ( from my early bike days ) but then I thought , " No one would sell pads now that aren't good in the wet " ......but these days you never know.

I'll see if I can find the old ones and see if there's any ID markings left on them. The pads I've just fitted were Bosch from GSF and I haven't driven in the rain since.

Bosch parts are normaly of good quality,
if your pads and brake discs are new-ish perhaps theyve not Bedded in yet (properly)

the 406s are normaly pretty good on the front brakes, its the handbrakes that are crap as a norm.

:? you shouidnt have any problems with Jurid.
ihavent had problems with them anyway,

jurid is one of the brands ialways ask for at the Motorfactors before going for anything else,
there a course pad- they seem to have more meat on them than any other pads.. one of the reasons iused them perhaps icouid be wrong tho
