Brakes Grinding?

Post by ironman »

Hello, I have a 2001 406 Hdi Rapier estate and the brakes are grinding and the pedal "bumping" when the brakes are applied.

I have put new pads front and rear and the discs appear to be in good condition but it is still doing it, any ideas what could be causing this?

Hope someone can help. :(

Thanks

Hi mate,
if your feeling a pulse through the pedal sadly it will be a Abs fault,

Sensor failing or relucter ring fault perhaps,

did this fault happen after changing any of the pads or disks ?

Hello, the problem was happening before I changed the pads, in fact it was why I changed the pads.

something here to try:

find the fuse for the abs and pull it out and see if the pulse on the pedal stops,
if it stops with the fuse pulled its an Abs fault,

or failing that findsomeone with a code reader to see if any Abs fault codes flag up,

If it's pulsing, then as said sounds like ABS fault

If the pedal moves at what you think is a revolution of the wheel check for warped disc first
