Is that good or bad? I'd think there were substantially more 406s owners, even just in the UK, which probably means the majority of them don't go wrong much :?

I must admit that my 406 Hdi has been one of the most reliable cars I have owned but they are a lot more complicated than earlier ones so the forum is excellent for those obscure faults that pehaps only one other person has had - thanks 406oc.co.uk

When I first bought my 406 I had a look around for relevant Forums and found four. This one was by far the most active.
One of the negatives I have noticed on some Forums is that as the cars become older and more 'affordable', so the number of younger members, who only want to know how to make them go faster increases. Then, when they have all blown them up and moved on, the Forum seems to die. How do I boost my turbo pressure and increase the fuelling seems to be the most common question on older diesel Forums, promptly followed by dyno rating posts.

When I was a lad I wanted my first car ( a Morris Marina ) to go faster, handle better (!) and be able to attract the girls...

Now I'm older, I want to make my car as standard looking as possible, be as economic and reliable as possible but still be a bit quicker....

I'm a ginge so I couldn't attract the girls no matter what I drive.. :cheesy:

Personally, I only ever did up my cars for myself. Other people may have been impressed, or they may have had negative thoughts about what I did.

I thought that being a Marina owner it was your duty to try to kill it, granted you did a spectacular job on yours

Not entirely true, asking if they'd tried the Lotus position seemed fairly effective.
