My new ride, 407SW HDi

Post by Harshan »

Hello all members out there.. just a small update from sunny Sri Lanka. Got fedup with the 406 Executive after using it almost on daily basis for 2 years and was looking for an upgrade. About time, I came across this beautifully looked after 407SW HDi. There are plenty of 407's and 407HDi s in Sri Lanka. However, not much SWs around, say 10-15 cars. Among all only two are HDis. So I was bit reluctant at first but fell in love with the car. Such a beautiful specimen to avoid. So I went ahead and bought it July (ehem, sorry for the late update  )

Driving of this is completely a different experience, though I have enjoyed the driving of 406. This is leaps ahead in terms of handling, control and more importantly POWER!!. it has enough power to outsmart most of the petrol cars around. Honda's aw.. love 'em faces when get overtaken by a diesel beast leaving 'em with a black cloud of smoke..

here are some pics attached.. what do you guys think. isn't she a beauty?

I haven't seen many of the SW variety here in the UK and I do prefer it to the normal saloon.

I do like the 'cage' on the grill to keep the diesel beast from escaping :cheesy:

Nice looking motor, congrats

Thanks welly. the colour is dolomite grey. I've re-painted the alloys with a bit of gold mixed to go with the body colour.

Hi, gumby6371. Thanks and when i was going through www do eebaay dot co dot eukey, I figured out there are many SWs in UK compared to the ratio in Sri Lanka. It's like a rare breed which is at the edge of extinction. :cheesy:
the grill (chrome on vertical lines) was a modification by the previous owner using cheap Chinese chrome like plastics. So I replaced with a brand new grill which only has horizontal lines in chrome. I might re-chrome the vertical lines using the original stainless steel lines which were on the old grill.

Thanks lozz it was once my dream ride.

thank rwb, didn't get the three defectors part though

Hi Trem, thanks and indeed yours is an exceptional beauty (or beast?) like the red coloured calipers. Giving me ideas :D. Saw in your signature it was rated as 136 bhp is it correct? as service pox tells me following when I keyed in my chassis number. 407 5 DOOR ESTATE 2.0 HDi 138 Auto gearbox 4. doest that means they squeeze more bhp out of the same engine to compensate the ultra-heavy body structure of estate?? conpused..

thanks doggy.. i know you guys do admire estates. But here in SL mostly they try to go for the sedan variant in any model.

We accepted that this forum will 'delve' into 407 territory sometimes and a few ex-406 drivers have made the logical move to the '7' therefore they are more than welcome to willy-wave their new motors here like this (although there is a proper 407 forum for the technical stuff).

Hello folks. Couldn't log in for quite a sometime. You'll see my car in an UK based advert. I think it's Falc if I'm not mistaken.
