406 SV 3.0 V6 "luxury sedan"

Post by Cacadu »

Hello from Finland!
I bought my -97 406 V6 3.0 sedan in July 2012. I used to have -03 v6 wagon but i didnt like the power loss of automatic transmission. :)

It was drived 208tkm, and i have drived now about 217tkm.

Main reasons why I bought that car was: It was very cheap, black (rare colour in 406 at least in Finland), manual, full leather interior (electric)-

But becuse it was cheap, it aint perfect: only 1 tires with 15" steel wheels, timing belt change is coming :( , Driver side rear door is wrecked..

Here is couple of pictures at car when i bought it:

So what i plan to do with that car? Interior is taking ph2 leather doorcards, exterior needs to get clean and maybe phase 2 front end...

Here is what i have done:

- Timingbelt + waterpump + rollers + tensioners + drivebelt (220tkm)
- Powersteering oils changed: Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF (221tkm)
- Passenger side motor suppourt mount changed (221tkm)

- Drivers side rear wheelbearing changed (214tkm)
- Reardiscs changed (215tkm)
- All handbrake cables changed (215tkm)
- Wintertires Nokia Hakkapelitta 7 205/55/16" with Ourang alloys.
- Summertires Keskin kt5 18" x 8,5"
- Front brake discs, pad and brakefluids chanced (220tkm)

Body and exterior:
- Side trims treated with heatgun.
- Front foglights taped with yellow film.
- Wiper arms painted to black.
- Lion badge on front grill painted to black.

Interior:

- Sun visors changed to one with lights. (those are changed leds ofc!)

- Package tray upholstered with black fabric.
- Dashboards lowerparts changed to black.

- All switches (windows etc) leds changed to red ones.
- Dash & cluster lights changed to bright or red ones.

Good stuff, looks nice a nice example, you've clearly put a lot of work in. Is getting a replacement door panel going to be too difficult over there?

I'll be interested to see the pics if you decide to go for a Phase 2 (D9) front end 8)

Also you appear to be missing your radio antenna!

Thx! Black door is very hard to find here! I know only 1 but, its too expensive. Ill get 5 diffrent color doors for price of that black one... I think i need to buy other color and head to paint job.. Antenna is missing becuse car was on wash before picture... :)

Ooh shiny :cheesy:
Very nice
Black isn't very common over here either.

Midsmike has put D9 leather door cards in his D8, so that can definitely be done.
Changing the front-end is harder if not impossible because the bumper, lights, wings, and bonnet are all different. Take a look at our pics from French Car Show last year to see them next to eachother.

How does heat treating the rub strips work? I haven't heard of that before.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I finally found D9 leather cards today @ finland.. tommorrow i will pick them up.. I think it can done, only wires are ?-mark.. But i think i can handle that..

Here is couple of pictures about finnish pugclubs dynoday: http://photour.net/sportpug-com-dyno-day/ as you can see strips are allmost deep black..

Heating is very easy, put heatgun near of strip and u will see the results.. No need for cemicals and the result will be much better and last longing... But be carefull so u dont burn them..

I used to use cemicals before, but heatgun trick is very efective.. They dont suck dust like cemically weared strips..

I love this picture:

Almost bang on 210bhp (156kW) which is what Peugeot say the ES9J4S engine should be producing. 6,000rpm as well. Oh and a full tank of fuel!

Oh, sorry, yours is a ES9J4, which is meant to be 194bhp. Even more impressive that you got 213bhp from it!

Yeah, engine is stock.. Only mods are better breathing airfilter "induction kit" i mean the hose that goes to stock filterbox, it still got stock airfilter panel.. And rear silencer removed, straight pipe is replacing that backbox.
