What you doing on a car forum then if thats your way of thinking,

sorry but Many people/members are old skool mechanics, on this and many other forums,
if old skool mechanics are not to be trusted why take advice /or even waste your time reading info from such people, :?
+1 on that one. I'd much rather trust an old school mechanic than more recently trained ones. For a start, an old school mechanic is more used to knowing how to diagnose faults & fix things. Most mechanics trained since the 90s are too reliant on a computer telling them what to change & changing a part - in that respect they are more fitters than mechanics.

Jasper is a prime example of old school mechanics that know more of what they are talking about than just what they read on a computer screen.

Yeah very true mate,

Jaspers knows his stuff about cars, 8)

ive worked with cars since iwas 13yr old, my father was a mech so ilearnt alot from him ive also worked for Vaux and afew audi specialists,(but im no good as icarnt /work with laptops etc)

But ask some * Newbie* so called fully skilled mechs how to change a clutch theyd more than likely pass on that,
fully skilled or not dosent mean there Clued up on taking on big handballing jobs,
Some of them are better off working at kwikfit changing exhausts,

Old skool mechs are Better because they wont Rip you off,

When it comes to injectors and HP pumps we are talking about extremely delicate stuff, which can go wrong so easily and cost thousands to fix, I trust people that do 20+ hours of technical training yearly. Do you think being an injector specialist is easy? There's a reason if it's the most difficult field in the car industry. If you knew how much research and teaching there is behind that field you'd agree with me.
Again, we are talking about a fix made for old TD pumps and injectors. I did that on my old 106 and on my Transit. I wouldn't do that on my HDi 406.

Agood point there, on the Hp pump being delicate,
Yeah agreed its not something id try in a Hdi engine, But bailes Might be right it may be some benefit to the engine, or it couid be just the Placebo effect who knows,
Good luck too em isay,

Back to the mention of old skool Mechanic & proffesionals,
As with this and most forums, its the old skool Mechs that give out /provide alot of good info theyve built up over the years,
wouid a proffesional do that and provide it free of charge, ?

Sure, I love DIY mechanics and I hope I'll be good enough to call me so one day. I just pointed out that when we are dealing with the pump and the injectors I prefer to look at what professionals do as a model. And they use professional cleaners, not two stroke oil. Still, if someone finds out for sure it works for his engine, then lucky him!

Professionals are going to say that! Because two stroke isn't well used within the trade.
It has been scientifically proven that two stroke upps the lubricity of diesel. It's also been proven that when they started adding Bio and making city diesel the lubricity of diesel declined. The two stroke is replacing something that is missing.

Thousands of people are using two stroke, common rail or mechanical pump and I haven't heard of ANYONE having an issue! Nothing but good news comes with two stroke.

As they removed sulphur from diesel it made it much less 'slippery'. Thus old fuel pumps were wearing out quicker. Two stroke is simply just replacing somethign thats missing.
The upshot of that is (As been scientifically proven although I can't find the link at the moment) also the diesel burns cleaner, smoother and it helps keep the fuel system cleaner and healthier.

Cheers mate, Can't thank you enough! Going to have to buy some more clips before I rip the seal off again  Tenmpted to buy all new seals and maybe use a little silicone to stick them on aswell as the clips but Dai Rees said it would be a bad idea, can't remember why.

Seats are brilliant though! The drivers seat is much firmer than my old one too!

I will confess, I spent 30 mins trying to push the clips through the holes in the rubber strip before I realsed you pop them in from the back
