lol. no, it's nice. Reminded me how cramped and miserable the south is.

Yeah, pretty happy with 100k. Would like to put another 50 on it, but this keeps looking at me -- now under 5k

Well done young man. 8)

Remind me again, how long have you had it?
how many miles?
at what point does it get promoted to, 'A fairly unremarkable 406'?

Got it September 2005 for £5k, and it had 84k on it. It was new and shiny and they were a popular business car on the motorways.

187k today.

The title is a bit tongue in cheek: 103k over 7 years and it has never let me down, and I think this is pretty remarkable. It's just not very exciting.

475 miles to Accrington and back today -- only found out I had to go yesterday afternoon. Clog down and still only used half a tank. Early start but liked having the time to myself.

Only saw 2 other 406s, and there aren't many 407s about. Not many 508s either.

Following the barrier incident:
rwb wrote:The next question is what to actually do with the car. It looks a right mess, but its in good mechanical order: there's no point repairing it but there's also no point scrapping it.
And just to add insult to injury the arm rest fell off and the airbag light returned from a month long holiday today both while I had passengers

However, having had it so long I just cannot bear to part with it.

So on to Plan B: "out with a bang".
  • Remap. Should be good for 125hp... if anyone will touch a Siemens system.
  • de-cat, although I'm still confused about the MOT status on this.
  • lower. It's always looked like it's on stilts.
Or is this just throwing good money after bad?

RWB, have the CAT removed and the insides smashed out.
The MOT only tests for smoke but since the begining of the year it does have to be present. If you have the insides smashed out it will still look like it's there.
