This is the start of project Betsy.
I've been going on about Betsy for about 3 months now, but if you don't know here's how I acquired her...
I bought a Peugeot 406 1.9TD and called it Bernard. It was French and crap, my parents were fed up of spending out on it and give me Betsy which was my Mums old car and there trading Bernard in for a new car for my Mum.
This is how I was given the car...

I got the mats etc out and started hoovering and noticed there was chocolate on the carpet in the back

Let some upholstery cleaner do it's magic...
Image

This was the interior finished...

Exterior...
Bottom soaked in cirus degreaser...
Image
Image

While I was waiting for that to soak in I noticed something very strange...
Image
Now that spoiler on the wiper is supposed to keep the wiper pressed against the windscreen at speed
So I decided to fit it the right way round
Image

Then I went to find out if the windscreen wipers were ok this way up and there was no screen wash
Image

The wingmirror needs replacing an is held on with Gaffatape...
Image
So tidied that up a little bit...
Image

And that's it for today...
Image
Image
Image

Right issues I've found so far...
1)Image
2)Warped Brakediscs Just ordered brakepads and discs
3)Front suspension knock? Hope it's a droplink, got a funny feeling the warped brakediscs have ****ed a CV joint, worse case scenario, ball joint?
4)Steering wheel ripping out of my hand if I try change gear when accelerating hard and turning at the same time? Normal?
5) High speed steering shake? Wheels out of balence? Knackered CV joint? Warped Brakediscs?

ASAP Plans...
Fix the issues :PP
New 6000CD Radio, desion ipod connectivity, bury bluetooth handsfree kit.
Fully amplified sound system with stealth install.
New bumpers, rear N/S door and respray.
Paint calipers.
Generally tidy up the car.

Future Plans...
Reiger front bumper, ford collection rear bumper, MK1 Focus Sideskirts.
30mm - 40mm Lowering, eibach front ARB and strut brace. Polybushes.
Ford Duratec25 V6 lump with Focus 2.0 MTX75 gearbox with LSD (pipe dream? we'll see :))

Well the steering wobble turned out to be abit more serious than front tyres out of balence. The front n/s wheel is more oval than the ford logo itself! Mum reckons she aint been anywhere near a pot hole. It had a brand new tyre on it 2 weeks ago which means it's been done recently or the tyre place didn't notice it/tell her. f*cking annoying :( Hopeing it can be repaired now.

Right my 406 needs this...
1 x New driveshaft.
4 x New shocks.
1x Fuel pump resealing.
4x Glowplugs
1 x Indicator Stalk
1x Electric Window Switch
1x New interior light unit
1x New heater blower.
2x new rear drums,
1x New Rear N/S Hub
1x New outer door seals
Ontop of that the sunroof is leaking badly and I cann't trace the leak. The car has quite abit of rust too.

I'm going to get this wheel fixed hopefully and going to replace the wishbones as I think there at fault with the whole knocking thing and steering wheel ripping all over the place!
Ah well :) Wishbones are what? £20-£30 at most?

Is it just me or is anyone else thinking "out of the frying pan & into the fire"?

How much was actually wrong with the 406?

Ah, right. Suppose the insurance saving will cover most of the Focus jobs anyway then. Might be waiting a while for the V6 conversion though...

Thats future plan. Chances are I bet it won't happen, but I'm sure we all have plans for our car's that never get done  Should be a nice easy conversion anyway cause I knwo the Focus 2.0/RS/TD box will bolt straight onto the V6 with the V6 clutch. Hardest part would be engine mounts.
