My 406

Post by LUX406 »

Picked this beaut up for a good price the end of last year.

My first 406, and first Peugeot actually.

Really like it, had a slightly newer Honda Accord in the past and I think the 406 is generally a better car.

Anyway heres some pics:

Excuse the fact that its absolutely filthy! And the pistonheads logo, :supafrisk: been umming and arring over selling her as its a little steep on insurance and fuel for my budget. Its a 1.8 LS, so has air-con (which is ICE cold) Drives perfect and as I mentioned before has really impressed me.

Such a smooth ride and once its into 2nd pulls fairly well for a small engine in a reasonably large car. Surprised me aswell how fun it is, grips really well and has alot of feedback through the wheel.

Paid a below book price for her with only 68k miles on the clock and mechanically perfect. Love the colour aswell, anyone know what its called as I really can't remember... diablo red??? nightfire red???

Has a few minor niggles such as some loose exterior trim (hence the tape on one of the bumpstrips in the pics!) and the usual scratches and marks here and there. But for the price its a great family motor.

Got a couple of ideas for some subtle mods for her.

Remove the peugeot and 406 badges from the rear, some alloys and the later rear lights.

Which brings me nicely to my questions: is it possible to fit 205 GTi 1.9 alloys to a 406? Reason I'm thinking of these is that the wheel trims look very similar and would be a cheeky subtle alteration. And can you fit the later style all red rear clusters with the body coloured divide to this phase/mark?

Any help is most appreciated.

And thanks for looking :cheesy:

Fairly certain that in order to fit the newer style rear lights you would also need the newer style boot and bumper as the lights are a slightly different shape I believe.

Been covered recently. You need a hell of a lot more than a bumper too to change the lights.

Nice car mate. Best of luck with it.

newer style rear lights
Rear, not front. Has later spec rear light swaps been covered?

Yeah its definitely not metallic.

Looks awesome when the light hits it, got an almost orange/yellow hue.

Embarking on a 350 mile round trip in her this week for my best mates wedding, really looking forward to giving her a decent run on the motorway.

All sorted and ready to rock, did the usual: checked all the levels, tyre pressures and filled her up to the brim (£75!) Darn petrol prices! :x

Will chuck up some more pics when she's treated to a wash after the road trip :cheesy:

Anyone shed any light on my wheel query???

Well your stud pattern is 4x108, usually a four stud from other Pugs will fit. You might need spacers, best to suck it and see.

Oh, and nice car, but get thee some fog lights for added pimp ^_^

I concur

The boot is convex from the outside, whereas the D8 in more concave. This was done to provide more room within the boot. Because of this, I would believe the rear lights are deeper to allow for this, and as such the bumper would be a different profile to suit.
