My 406 SE,now with tints

Post by hammerman »

Here at last are some pics i took today of my late 2003/53 Hdi 110 SE.16" alloys, sat nav, half leather, cruise,& the much sought after cream 5 dial dash, silver dash surrounds & black "wood" trim :D
It used to be my Dads company car from new,i brought it in sept 2006 with 56k miles,it now has 121k miles.Re mapped to 140 bhp.Its not been with out its problems, but its the best car i`ve ever had.Good performace,45 mpg +,comfortable, plenty of toys,& tows our caravan great.
Tuesday i`m have the rear windows tinted all round, dark smoke,as we`ve just had our first baby & i`m keeping the car for a fair few years yet. Will add some pics when its tinted. :)

Nice, I like the black wood trim and the metal door handles. Foldy mirrors too I see.

Very, very nice. 8) Really like the SE & think it does look more modern than the exec. - just too expensive when I got mine.
Nice colour too 8)
(Is that Icelandic Grey, like mine, or Some-kinda Blue, like Dia's)?

Never mind, somebody, somewhere is spending far too much time & effort cherishing Doggy's next 136SE estate.....

Thanks guys :) I think it is called Moonstone blue, very pale. When my Dad ordered it in 2003,we were talking about what colour to get(his 2000 90 hdi GLX was also a silver blue shade)i asked him to get it in China blue,as i love that colour & already made my mind up that i would buy the SE after 3 years.I have seen a fair few late SE`s in this colour.
Being in the quarrying industry ,the car & inside can get dirty & dusty, more so being black inside. But i try to give it a good clean inside every month or so,which i did proir to taking these pics.
I do agree that the black & silver inside make it feel a bit more modern.I dont know if the door cards are covered in leather,or "fake" leather, but i prefer them to the fabric door cards.Better to wipe clean also. The only things i would like on the car is a sunroof,as EVERY car i had up to this one has had one, even my previous Xantia had a sunroof & a/c.And i would like the memory function on the front seats too.
On the out side, some of the chrome trim in the bumpers & doors is looking a bit bad now.My Xantia(1997 VSX) was the same. You would have thought over the years they could make trim that does`nt let water under the surface  And the front leading edge of the bonnet is rusting inside to out, which i`ve seen on a few 406`s around 2002 & 2003 :frown:
Jobs to do this summer, due a service soon, drain & replace anti freeze, replace front discs & pads, replace rocker cover gasket, maybe replace rear shocks as the back end sags a bit more now with the caravan on.
But all round car i`ve had.Although for sheer fun & speed,my brand new Rover 200 Vi i got in 1999 takes some beating  :D :D
