LOL

Finchy tried it on his deFAP/remapped HDi Coupe, and found that although it physically fits, he seems to be down on power. I wonder if this is something to do with the remap.

At any rate, the petrol owners definitely see an improvement. This may be to do with the fact that all petrol Coupes are naturally aspirated, whereas the HDi has a turbocharger, and is getting exactly the right amount of air to begin with.

Nivek is working on a duct that is considerably less "submarine captain" (i.e. professional-looking), and is designed to connect to the BMC Carbon Fibre Airbox unit, for even greater induction improvements. I think he said he'd also be working on one that connects to the factory-fitted airbox.

Finchy did say, he thought the K&N made a difference on the diesel before the modifications
As Highlander says, the V6 can't make use of the flow capabilities of the K&N

Still got one saved on my wish list on ebay for £35

As I think I've already said, it was mentioned somewhere that sometimes wire 1368 for the trip computer can be found terminating under the airbox
So if i'm taking the airbox out to look for it, well, I succombed and purchased a K&N off the bay for £35

Got shed loads of decorating to do, but if the K&N arrives by saturday, i'll have the airbox out, check for the 1368 wire, if it's there, solder it to wire i've already fed through the bulkhead and connect to the MFD plug I got off Ade

1368 is fuel flow through the injectors
It's what tells the fuel computer how much fuel it's using

Well, I said I'd was going to have the front calipers off the same car, I had the rears from, off Nigel (Omega)

I was going to do the same as the rears and send them off to be reconditioned
However last night, I was flicking through the bay, and found a brand new set of calipers complete with new pads, and with five mins to go, they were £19.99
20 secs to go, I thought sod it, and put a bid of £27 in, and won them for £26
They were for collection only, and were in Birmingham
I paid for them and sent the seller my phone number
He rang me about an hour later, and he said he worked at MIRA which is about five mile from me, and would drop them round to me
I envisaged spending £10 in diesel to collect them, and because of the fact I got the calipers and pads so cheap, I offered to give the guy some more money, but he flatly refused
Bit of a result!!
Feel bad for letting Nigel down, but have sent him a PM apologising :|

Also the K&N turned up today

Not sure when i'm going to work on the car though

I've got shed loads to do

I've got to :

Prime the baton above the window in the bathroom for the blind
prime the bathroom door frame
prime the bedroom door frame
gloss all the above
gloss the dado rail in our bedroom
Source, purchase and fit a new ceiling in the bathroom
Source and purchase a heated towel rail
Source and purchase laminate flooring for the bathroom
finish striping the wallpaper in the bedroom
fit coving in the bedroom
fit new skirting in bedroom
paint coving in bedroom
paint ceiling in bedroom
Source, purchase and fit new light for bedroom
Source, purchase and put up wallpaper
Fetch the new tiles for the bathroom from the tile merchant tomorrow
......and probably a few more jobs besides

On another note, I bought another Toyo Proxes T1-S 225/45/17 to match the one that Lozz very gratiously let me have

Cost me £100 though

Seen them for £85 online, but time paid postage, then paid to have it fitted, £100 didn't seem that bad
Said they'd only charge me a fiver to fit the other tyre as well, so £105 :D
Never paid so much for a tyre before
I did have some Bridgestone Potenza's before, but they came on a set of Sierra Cosworth wheels I fitted to my XR4x4, and paid £300 for a set of 5 years ago
I'm sure those wouldn't of been cheap, but at least I didn't need to buy one new

Yes, big thanks to Gary for meeting me up by the motorway - even offered him a couple of quid for his troubles but flatly refused

I did have my concerns about the inner edge of the tyre, but asked the tyre fitters next door before ordering another one

Well, it has all gone pete tong

Got up this morning, and tyre looked flat, but the front one also looked a bit flat, so thought MAYBE someone had been messing around and let me tyres down
Drive down the road, re-inflated the tyres, and went and fetched the tiles i'd ordered and when got back the tyre looked flat again
Drive to the tyre place, got them to check, and had a x style slit in the sidewall meaning it's scrap, so had to fork out for another new tyre :frown: :( :( :(

Ah well, that's the gamble I guess :(

On the plus side, some guy approached me in a BP Garage in Coventry after i'd been in B&Q and bought some laminate, and said lovely colour, lovely car
Spoke to him for a couple of mins, showing him the stuff i'd done to the car, and he said you're obviously an enthusiast
He went on to say he'd had two 406's and now had a 407
I said funnily enough I was thinking of selling and getting a 407
He told me not to bother and stick with the 406!!!!

As I said, that's the gamble

As you say Gary, shed loads of meat on the tyre, so an absolute travisty that it had a hole in the sidewall
Was hoping when I went back down the garage, it would of been in the tread, as I noticed something in the tread which I pointed out to Gary, but felt inside and nothing
Was hoping it was something like that, but ah well, not to be

Intentions were good, so not to worry Lozz, thanks anyway
