Bygone days

Post by Blue406 »

Sifting through my online image depository, I found a bunch of pics on good ol N361YLS.
Bought her in June 2001 with 114,000 on the clock. Retired to a scrapyard with 195,341 on the clock in November 2007.
She was pulling 110 MPH on the German Autobahns in July 2007 with a full load... had so much life left, but her new owner couldn't afford the £350 bill to fix some parts in the suspension.

Rest in peace my faithful chariot.

The day I got her, June 2001. 5 Years old with 114K miles on her clock.

Just after installing D9 wing mirrors.
Interestingly, neither of the 3 cars in frame are on the road any more.
First to go was my 406, scrapped 2007. The Prelude was written off at the end of 2007 by a careless Ford Fiesta driver and the Renault Megan in the drive way skidded on wet mud from a field dragging onto the road by the local Farmers tracktor. Megan ended up on its side in a ditch. Driver OK if rather narked.

Returning from what ended up as her retirement cruise across Germany. Waiting for the ferry back home in Amsterdam:

Her replacement I bought 2 days later:

Funny you say that, my nephew started a mobile valeting service with money he got from some enterprise scheme, can't remember which it was, Prince's Trust or something, one of those things to get people into business with a little help, maybe you could make enquiries in your area, see what might be on offer.

How does one do the "Bluey Bling" thing with the chrome on the lower front grille? What do you buy and where do you get it from? I like the chrome effect, works nicely with the blue.

One on the left is my Brother.

Go to Halfords and get the chrome detailing strip they sell in red packaging.
Much like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHROME-MOULDING-T ... 27a3711406

Be sure to get the stuff with 3M adhesive... anything else will peel!

Aye, that's the stuff.

Clean the grill good and well, perhaps use some white spirits or such like to make sure it's free of all the grime.... then cut the trim to length and apply very carefully. Sorted.
