Drivers side passenger door

Post by BruceT »

Mine leaks water. :(

Noticed this a few weeks ago when I lifted the mat and the underside had water moisture on it.

Mat has been removed now so was hoping to 'air out' but no.

When I open the drivers side passenger door I can see water almost 'sat' on the rubber seal (Body wise) and it trickles down into the footwell.

I wasnt massivly bothered as it was only damp, not sodden (Yet!)

Today, for the first time I got into my car and was 'Oh... I cant see' front screen (front screen only mind) was covered in moisture and had to sit with the demister on for 10 mins for it to clear (I hate smeary marks on windscreens, plus didnt have anything to wipe)

The two could be un-related.

But my question is how common is drivers side pass door apperture leaking water at the bottom seal, Is it a case of a new door apperture rubber from Peugeot? or most complicated.

Also, top tips for keep the moisture out?¬

I'm currently having this issue with my rear passenger side door. I'm assuming it's a leaky seal, but haven't had time to investigate fully yet. The foot well on the n/s rear is sodden, and I've just taken the mat out and will stick it on top of the fire downstairs to dry it out.

Sorry I was no use to your questions, but I was going to post this the other day but never got round to it, and now you've posted it I may aswell jump on the band wagon!

Mine's not leaking water - yet - but there's a great big chunk missing out of the outward-facing part of the driver's door seal.

If there's a place I can buy a set of genuine unused (or after-market replacement) door seals for a 406 (early D9), then please let me know. Also, if they are easy to replace personally, that would be great to know too!

2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

I had this water leak into the rear passenger compartment....

To fix it...remove the rubber seal from its metal fitting (do it in sections) and taking a small hammer, knock the metal flange that the rubber fits onto outwards about 6mm ( a quarter of an inch).Go all round the door opening including the bottom ledge, then refit the rubber, this will push the seal out further giving a stronger fitting against the rubber seal when the door closes.
Also on the rear door there is a rubber seal that clips in where the door fits to the wheel arch, check that this seal is attached properly and in good condition.

This fix also applies to the front doors and boot lids for that matter.

With the rain recently I had another feel of the footwell of the rear drivers side. Its getting quite sodden now with water

I did as per Jasper and knocked the metal rib outwards by about 5-6mm (what a racket lol)

Comparing the rubber aperature seals on the otherwise... it would appear the leaking one is 'flat' or 'squashed' and is not a nice roundish shape.

I'm thinking maybe replacing the aperature rubber could be the next step?
