Peugeot 406 saloon rubber seal leaking.

Discuss the 406's Bodywork stuff in here (what parts fit what, what can be interchanged with what etc etc).

Peugeot 406 saloon rubber seal leaking.

Post by MyPug »

The floor mat felt damp and I suspect the car is leaking somewhere but not sure where. I have also noticed an increase in wind noise.
What would be the most sensible parts to replace of rubber seals on my Peugeot 406 saloon? Surely I don't need to replace then all, or do I?
Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Usual culprits for wind noise are the door sill trims ( the bits you normally kick to pieces with your feet when you get out of the car ) and the driver's door seal

The door seal can be removed and simply rotated 90° so the part at the bottom becomes the bit by the latch when refitted - no tools required, just gently pull it away.

The sill trims were still available from Peugeot, and about £20 or so, possibly more now as everything seems to be going up.

You'll need to reuse your old clips, as you only get a handful with the new seal.

There should be a thread or two on here, you may also find the part number - have a look using the search function ( I would but I'm putting the kids to bed... )

Thank you GingerMagic.
I'll find the various parts number and post them so we can take from there.

Thanks GingerMagic.

This is what I found online:
9023T6, right side gutter seal on body
9023T5, left side gutter seal on body
9023X9, left front door weatherstrip on body
9023Y0, right front door weatherstrip on body
9023Y2, right rear door weatherstrip on body
9023Y1, left rear door weatherstrip on body
9023TX, right rear door weatherstrip on door
9023JW, left rear door weatherstrip on door
9023LJ, left side door sill weatherstrip on body
9023LK, right side door sill weatherstrip on body
699786, clips, 38 pc both sides.
I think this is all of them. If it's not, please let me know.

So - where do I start. Which one is most likely to be the worst.
Or do I just get them all?

Personally, and being of a financially cautious nature  I would only buy the driver's door sill weather strip on body, and rotate your driver's door seal.

Also, check the drain holes in the bottom of the door - the door is designed to let rain water through the door and out of the bottom - a membrane inside the door keeps the water within.

Try it first and see how you get on :cheesy:
