Bumper trouble

Post by peugeot30v6 »

A surprise was waiting for me after work today, apparently a SUV backed into me. The bolts sheared off and I am left with it hanging. Not entirely sure how to fix it. Any suggestions? ImageImage

Oh bugger :( Did you catch them?

The bumper looks like it's survived remarkably well, is it the studs coming out of the bumper that sheared? Maybe it would be possible to (carefully!) drill out the remains and fit bolts using resin?

Thats a pain....

The bit behind the headlight/wing is a kind of bayonet screw fixing, you can get one from a scrapper and glue a washer over the broken hole in the bumper to hold it to the wing.

The same goes for the one at the back, any quality* repair is hidden by the wheel arch liner. I also thought there was 2 10mm bolts that go up through the bumper into the bottom of the wing, but I may* be mistaken.

If you easily* and effortlessly* remove the headlight ( only 3 bolts ) you can see what you are left with and how best to repair it.

Did a bit of Sunday bodging, fixed the bumper by drilling into the side of it and fitting a longer screw up into the original hole. The washer idea is great but fell off only after 15 minutes of driving.
It's not pretty but it will hold the bumper for now.ImageImage
