Noise from rear, and fuel tank can move 1cm in cradle

Noise from rear, and fuel tank can move 1cm in cradle

Post by 8Jb9 »

I am annoyed by a rattling/clunking noise from the rear, and I cannot seem to find any suspension components that can be blamed for it. The noise is most prominent at low-ish speeds, and even more so if the road it a bit tilted to the side.

I've got access to a pit where I noticed that I could lift the tank up from the cradle by quite a bit - something I couldn't on my friend's 406. The cradle itself doesn't appear to be damaged, and has plenty of underbody rustproofing on it. I'm just wondering if it can somehow have bent or stretched in the anchor points?

What would be the best course of action here?

Perhaps the straps have ..just got weak with age,
Replacement of the straps might be best.
