Water leak in passenger foot well

Post by kris »

Afternoon all.

I have found the location where water is flooding the passengers foot well. Could anyone tell me where the water should be draining to and maybe where the water could be coming from in the first place?

Hi Kriss, dont know about 406 sedan but 406 coupe has this problem seriously.

As i can recall, the water is coming trough the holes just under the front wing.
There are aprox.3 holes there,i cant recall if they should be plugged but from time some of them fell and i had leak there.
From there, water is coming behind the front wing, into the chasis and from there, only place it can go is inside the car, dripping on that wires.
I plugged it with silicon.

Managed to find a hole to drain the water out the sill. Thanks. Just need to dry out the carpet now lol. Do you know how many holes there are for water to drain away from the sunroof? I've found 2, is there more?

Thanks again

Ok cool, cheers. Am thinking the passenger side sunroof drain tube has blocked and ended up running down the A pillar into the sill, and in conjunction with the sill drainage holes get blocked with road dirt, it just been filling up and eventually over flowed into the foot well. Well that's the way I'm hoping it has happened, cant think of another way for the sill to fill up :S

Thanks guys

I had a leaky bit recently, turned out its my door seal - which I swapped with a spare one.

You need to check the following; Sunroof drains ( normally damp where the headlining meets the pillar trim ), the 2 drain slots in the bottom of the door, and the door seal itself. Have a peek inside the seal as you open the door when its been raining as you may see a trickle of water.

My money is on the sunroof drains... 8)

Have/had the damp patches where the headlining and pillar trim meet. And even a few drips every now and then from the overhead console bit but i think that was after a left hand bend and the waters ran across the headlining. The 2 drain slots at the bottom of the door are free and clear and i think the seal is ok.

Thanks for the vid :cheesy: very useful guide. Think am gonna check the drivers side sunroof drain just as a precaution, make sure the same things not happening to that side as well.
