Converting to 7 Seater
How hard would it be to convert my estate to a 7 seater? Ive seen pics of 406 estates with 2 seats in the boot. What is involved in doing this?
Cheers

Re: Converting to 7 Seater
Hi Stu, welcome.
I was looking at doing the same thing to mine but just not got round to it yet. I think it is a case of finding a 7 seat version to rob, but there are quite a few bits to change over, albeit quite a straight forward swap.
I also hesitated because there may be an issue with DVLA as your car will be a 7 seater, may have to inform insurance company too, just in case.
Not meaning to put you off - just do some research before commiting to it...!!

Re: Converting to 7 Seater
My first 406 (Bernard) had cheaper insurance because it was a "Family" model

It's not bad for £100. All you're missing is the spacesaver spare wheel & the flimsy carpet cover that creates the rear footwell. If you wanted to be absolutely 100% though, you'd also need the correct internal tailgate panel which has a built in sunblind & button (& lock) to open the boot from the inside.stuartkeith wrote:is this all i need? and is price ok?

I dont even have a spare wheel now after hitting a pot hole before xmas and flattening one side of the rim!

Re: Converting to 7 Seater
That looks even better. If when you fit the tailgate parts & set up the internal release button you decide you want the lock to work, it is the same lock as the one used on the glovebox. Really easy to change & costs about £80 from Peugeot for one made to your original key.

Re: Converting to 7 Seater
The tailgate needs to open from the inside if you convert it to seven seat
Or it couid be an mot fail iirc its amot requirement.
Also make sure you declare it with the dvla and your insurer
Those that don't can end up with passengers going home on foot
If the plod run the motor through PNC.
Your insurance will go up, I'd like to see an insurer making a car cheaper to insure for
Being a family model as there's more risk

Mine never had a release in the boot?
Also the seatbelts bolted to the piller between the rear windows and the rear doors.

Re: Converting to 7 Seater
But it didn't have the door release inside the tailgate? Was it converted (VF38E instead of VF38F) or did it come like that? I can see the safety implications of it but it might make things simpler if it's, umm, optional
