Rubber seal along the sill

Post by LUX406 »

Yet another bodywork question! Sorry!

I'm refering to the long piece that runs along the top of the sill on each side (visible when you open any door)

The clips all along the area on the drivers door part have broke, this leaves the trim bulging out and its getting worse obviously with me getting in and out my pug.

Is it possible to buy the clips from the dealers, or even the whole rubber trim part? As they both look a bit worse for wear.

Thanks for looking guys :cheesy:

Very common fault, the clips cost pence from the dealer luckily!

The clips and rubbers are available separately, worth replacing as water can get in the sill...

iirc, the rubber strips are £25 each and the clips are 6p each (come in bags of 50)

19 clips per side

before refitting, it would be adviseable to spray some waxoyl in the holes along the sill, to help prevent the dreaded tin worm

I work in the sign industry and we have some pretty cool tapes we use. I used this stuff:
http://affixit.co.uk/toffee-tape/toffee ... 2mm-p-1382
to stick my rubber seals back on and they most certainly wont come off now!
The beauty of tape is no messy glue dripping everywhere and waiting for it to dry and also its fully watertight as the tape covers the full length, not just in places like the clips. A word of caution though, get it all in place before removing the backing paper as it sticks like Sh*t to a blanket.
