Hi there. I'm afraid on a 2002 that's probably going to be com2000 :(

It can be an expensive fix, and other second hand Comms will be in similar condition.
As Steve says above, despite numerous arguments over part numbers, I think there are only 6 variations of Comms unit - as long as the functions are the same ( front fogs, rear wiper, auto lights etc ) then it should be okay to swap. It also needs to be a Comms 2000 - not a later model.
It's relatively straightforward, but can be tricky first time.

Alternatively, if you don't need the car for a while, it can be removed and sent to a guy called Graham Hall for repair - costs about £40.
He can be found on eBay ( has a mobile number as his user name ) on Facebook, or on Peugeotforum as user 'trustme'

Hope this helps.

Would have to take wheel off then as can not do without the car due to disability, bad enough to have to use a stick not bad enough to get full mobility

Yes the wheel has to come off.

Alternatively you can drive your car to Graham, he does a while you wait service :)

If your paying a garage to fit a new com's unit, probably going to be north of £300.00 fitted :(

If you are local to Bournemouth I'm happy to have a look at it for you..
In the meantime you can shove a dishwashing sponge into the cowling around the stalk to keep it from flopping around....

Does anybody know how to convert between the XXXX.YY ServiceBox numbers and the actual part numbers (which are the long numbers that begin with a 9)?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

This is between the actual manufacturer's part numbers and the ones Pug uses? A lot of suppliers will list both codes (and the same parts other manufacturers use e.g. Fiat)
