how do i know if D8/D9 ?? :?

2001 is most likely a D9. Foglight shape is the most obvious difference from the front. D8 foglight is smaller/more oval than the D9 foglight.

A few tell tale signs...
Side repeaters are clear on a D9, and orange on the D8
Hazard light switch is separate from the rest near the top if the dash on a D9, lower down by the heated rear window on a D8
Instruments in the cluster have a flat bottom on a D8.

Also, if you are still unsure - look at the bottom middle of the Speedo, it will say D9 or D8 in tiny writing..

What about the obvious differences on the D9 like the rear light clusters having the body-coloured strips and the front lights being more angular and the black front grille....
