New to group

Post by kwbiker »

Hi to all and thank you for accepting me in the forum.
I am now the proud owner of 2001 406 2.0 HDI so far a great car.
As with all things there are bound to be weak points or hick-ups and i figure that a forum is the best place to learn and meet people with the same interest.
Hope i can add at some point as well as just ask the usual questions.
Regards to all

Hi Kevin, welcome.
The 406 is a very underestimated car - it's cheap to run, reliable, comfortable and affordable - it's only once you have bought one you realise how good they are.
I personally think the 406 and the 306 are the last of the decent Peugeots, probably the best ones they made 8)
I've had 3 406 estates, varying quality and conditions but this forum has been a godsend for being able to do alot of the maintenance myself..
Let's hope your car does you proud.
Ps the handbrake is usually rubbish, just needs a tweak.
2003 2.2hdi estate - mine
1998 Volvo 940 auto estate - also mine
2019 Citroen C3 something - the wife's
PP2000 user, can help with faults / diagnostics in the Bournemouth area.

Hi Kevin

Welcome to the forum. I concur wholeheartedly with Ginger, I have been driving for over 60 years and the 406 is the most reliable car I have ever had and probably the last decent one Peugeot made. They get the odd problem but usually nothing expensive if you can fix it yourself. I have two, one is the wife's and that's done 203k miles and still drives beautifully.

There are some knowledgeable and experienced people on here to help if you do have any problems.

Hi Kevin & welcome aboard. 8)

As you may have gathered we're quite fond of the 406.
I'm on my second one & in my 10th year of 406 ownership.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
