Greetings from Wokingham

Post by Sulejman »

Hi everyone, my name is Dejan and I'm passionate about French classic cars. I have a tiny collection of Renaults and Citroens from 70's & 80's and from now on I have a lovely 406 from 2001. It has got all the appeal of a classic car and having/driving one makes me very happy :) Mine had 50k miles on the clock when I bought it from the first owner. It comes in exec trim level with beige leather interior which is my absolute favourite. 2.2 Hdi (110) unit has been remaped by Steve (hdi tuning guy) and everything else on the car is in its original state.
Mine is automatic and I drive it daily.
Thanks for letting me join the club.
Dejan

Hi Dejan

Welcome to the forum. I have two 406 Hdi's and I reckon they are the best car Peugeot made, mine are both 2.0 estates, manual for economy as I use them all the time.

I didn't realize that I typed 2.2 hdi. It is 2.0 unit.
I'll upload some pics next week when I give them a wash :)
406 is an absolute delight and If I'd known how thirsty and unintelligent AL4 auto was, I'd have gone for manual too. I also own a brand new transut connect auto (1.5 120ps) and it made me forget how annoying were older automatics.
Saying that I still love my 406 inspite of being thirsty and it is actually a good idea to buy another one (manual probably) to reduce the mileage on each (I do 2k+ per month). I love HDI's and also V6's. So either 2.2 now, or V6 ;)

It's been a while :)

I paid I think £2250 in the end to include the replacement of the AC compressor. Few months after purchase the car was booked into peugeot dealer and the new compressor was fitted at the cost of the trader. So all in all, 2 years later I'm still loving my pug. Now I use it for my trips to Lake District every week so the mileage has gone up a bit (close to 70k now).
After a while I got used to the AL4 gearbox and I can actually say that I prefer it to manual. Consumption is not bad on the motorways (doing 80mph - pardon 70, at 50mpg. City driving is a very different proposition :)

I'm now searching this forum to try and get an idea for a nice new alloy rims that will fit the car better than the original ones and also what options are there for LED headlights.
