Imagine the back is there too, much the same as the front! No idea why only half the picture shows!

Just out of curiosity, I believe the gear linkages are cables? Is there anything that can be done maintenance wise to tighten thing up a bit?

I can see the whole car....

There's a pic / diagram or two of the gear selectors in this thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19725&hilit=6+speed ... x&start=15

May be worth checking for any undue play at the 'box, but comparing with someone else's is probably easier.

Whereabouts are you?

I have persuaded the wife to buy me one of these http://r.ebay.com/YNICDS for the ipod connectivity for xmas.... allows you to control the ipod using the steering wheel controls..

you can also pay extra to have a bluetooth module added to it to get the hands free.

Gah! MAF sensor changed but no difference - car runs smoother but no change to power and I seem to have black smoke now!

Other than cleaning out and reconnecting the pipe to the air doser, all I have done is change the MAF, although I have done around 100 miles today. It's very frustrating!

Can anyone point me in a direction? EGR? Intercooler? (which is oily at the bottom). Any ideas? The car cruises lovely at motorway speeds and at 30-40, it's just getting there is proving problematic!

Cheers

Scrub that. Tried disconnecting MAF. No change. Totally gutless, no boost at all. What else have I changed I asked myself? I had reconnected that pipe to the air doser (after I did the MAF disconnected run yesterday). I disconnected that and it now goes like a train. I even had torque steer in first gear when I pulled away!

So big question. What does this pipe connect to, as it must be there for a reason! Any ideas?

Cheers

This may help?

Don't know my way round a 110 too well, but at a guess it's somehow affecting the vacuum to the boost control on the turbo. I don't know how these work, (on a 2.2's VNT you need a vaccum supply to reduce the boost, therefore vacuum leaks often cause over-boost problems).

Suspect this is t'other way round - it's a fixed geometry turbo, but the boost is controlled by the ecu, (unlike a 90's which has a mechanical wastegate).

Feel free to jump in if anyone has more detail - I've already told you more than I know.

Thanks Doggy :)

Of course when I found the disconnected pipe, it was as a result of taking the doser off to clean the leaky oil. Coincidence? I have no idea! I shall resume swearing tomorrow!

Oh and in answer to your previous question, I'm in Cambridge. With regard to my gears, I took the gear lever assembly apart today (as much as I dared) cleaned the dirty old grease away and packed as much fresh grease as I could into the nylon ball at the bottom of the lever. It has improved but still isn't great, but doing the dismantling has proved the linkages are fine, it's the lever itself that's showing wear. No idea how to get a replacement other than a dealer, which I'm not paying for! Think I'll keep an eye out on ebay and see if one comes up I can properly strip apart and play with!

Well I work in Huntingdon, if you want a comparison.

I had to sort out a snapped cable on my daughter's old 307 in a hurry, so I got an eBay scrappy to send me a complete set, (gear lever + cables) for £50 delivered. "What if it doesn't fit", says I, "return if for a full refund, you only risk the return postage". It fitted.

Small world Doggy! It was Huntingdon Halfords car park where I had my pipe eureka moment! (It was the old Peugeot dealership on St Peters Road I used to work at!). I may well take you up on the offer. It's definitely the lever assembly that has the play, I just don't know if it's excessive (I've hit 1st to 4th a couple of times too).

Right daylight has arrived, I got some Gallic swearing to do! Have a good day all!
