Newbie Saying Hello

Post by Jarracula »

Hi guys

Just thought i would say hello picking up a 406 in a few weeks. And i thought i would register and get the lay of the land

Not new to peugeot had quite a few over the years. as i need a car for work i will be on the look out for a diesel i guess the question is what to get HDI what year as i understand there is better versions i.e ability to remap. I know the DT lump is quite a tunable thing

Any info or help would be great

cheers

Hi & welcome to the forum. 8)

HDi's come in 2.0 90 or 110 bhp and 2.2 136 bhp as std. Torque figures are 155/184/235 lb/ft respectively
90's have no intercooler, but are remappable to about 125 bhp. Later 90's have Siemens fuel systems which are more difficult to convert.
110's remap to 135/140 bhp and about 230 lb/ft. Oddly, these can be the cheapest to run - better mpg/lower tax band.
2.2's (at least 02 onwards ones), remap to around 175 bhp/295 lb/ft, (or 185 bhp w/o egr), cheaply or up to 215 bhp at a price. (Older 2.2's can be done too, but it's more involved).

Which is best? Depends who you ask - they all have their supporters!
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Hi & welcome to the forum,
I.M.H.O. the 110 HDi is the best for a mix of useable power & econ :cheesy: , but if you want ultimate power & quite good fuel econ then 2.2 136 HDi (180 bhp)

Hello 8) The DT lumps are good, especially the 2.1, though I am enjoying my new 2.2 HDi :cheesy:

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Lots of great advice on here, nice people too.

I agree the Hdi 110 is the best all rounder, but those who say the Hdi 2.2 is too juicy are wrong. Mine is de-fap'ed, de-egr'ed and remapped to around 180bhp and I have just done a 100 mile round trip with 2 adults, 2 kids, luggage and a coffee table in the boot and 2 chests of drawers on the roof - still got 45mpg average.. :cheesy: 8)
2003 2.2hdi estate - mine
1998 Volvo 940 auto estate - also mine
2019 Citroen C3 something - the wife's
PP2000 user, can help with faults / diagnostics in the Bournemouth area.
