New coupe owner

Hi all,

Went out and bought myself a 2.0 coupe the other night, fully loaded with all the optional extras. Highish milage on 160k but runs so sweet. Managed to pick it up cheap after rolling my saxo VTS last week and I'm so pleased with it .

Only a couple of small issues, The small rectangular screen which displays radio/built in satnav etc has a number of vertical lines down it. The guy I bought it off said it'd clear after a few days use and it does that once it's been sat for a while (to be fair it has been parked in his drive since october with no tax).

And the passenger door needs a new rubber for the doorcard to hook over, if that makes sence? I was hoping someone could tell me where to find one

you rolled a saxo how on earth did you do that ?

the seller is telling your porkie's the display will not clear after a few days (could do but to me it sounds like it needs a new one)
there not to expensive anyway.

there is a guy on the 406 coupe club named ade . hes also on ebay he specializes in breaking coupes so hes your man if you need any parts

i dont know his ebay name but some1 here will be along shortly to tell you

Have a word with ade: http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/ade1122 - he'll sort you out. His yard (he's a 406 coupé specialist breaker) in Chesterfield usually has over 10 coupés in it at any given time, so if you need it he can get it to you.

As Gary said, the seller was lying to you. Once a screen goes like that, it's not coming back, ever. They're dead easy to replace though, and not too expensive 2nd hand.

... unless it's the display for Sat-Nav equipped 406s, which are easy to replace but can be hard to find in working order.

The screen has cleared a little but I'm now also thinking that it needs replacing, though I can't complain as I did take the car off him very cheap. Also thanks for pointing me in the direction of Ade, I'll definitely get in contact with him.

Take the Mfd out and take it in the house ,
put it somewhere warm for abit,


The frosty weathers can affect some screens, especialy if the cars been left standing,
the Mfd screen on a 406 estate ive just got rid of was the same,
it was fine after it had warmed up after awhile,

My screen has some lines on the right hand side sometimes and sometimes not,today it has been fine all day.I think it has to be temperature related somehow as it seems worse when it's cold in the morning.I'm going to wait untill the better weather gets here and see how it is then before i do anything about it.

The "L" in "LCD" stands for "Liquid". We all know the density of liquids change with temperature - colder temperatures make fluids more dense. The materials in an LCD screen are perfectly capable of freezing solid. They're also capable of melting completely at too high a temperature.

The screens seem to work well between 10 and 30 Celsius. Get much colder than that and they start to stick (or refresh very slowly), get much hotter than that they start to bleed (garbage on-screen).
