Another Aussie on Board
Hi to all.
I have just bought my first 406 (but 18th Peugeot out of 27 cars) and used this forum extensively in my research. I have bought a 2002 Build (D9) 406 SV Saloon (V6) with all options except for the sunroof.
The vehicle has only done 98,000 Kms and arrived from Brisbane yesterday. Having bought it sight unseen (a friend checked it over for me) I was very pleased with it and have only identified one issue so far which is non working mirrors - fuse intact so suspect wiring or switch. More searching on the forum required so I thought I had better sign up!

Welcome on in mate!
Non-working mirrors? that's a bit weird - normally they're the only things left working

Welcome mate! Stick a steak on the barbie!! (Being Irish, Ive heard all the Irish generalisations. Its my turn now )
Regarding the mirrors, if both mirrors are not working and you are sure its not a fuse, then it could be a faulty mirror switch or a loose connection somewhere. If the battery was flat for a long period of time you might need to do a BSI reset:
Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.
Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.
Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.
Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).
Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.
Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
Start the engine and complete the system's check.
Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

Re: Another Aussie on Board
Thanks Eoin and others. I have finally got around to doing my first BSI reset and I am pleased to report that seats and mirrors are working again. Unfortunately no such luck on the ESR/ASP warning light which remains lit.
I might put a post elsewhere about that but I'm not sure whether it is 'electrical' or 'suspension'

I'm not sure it matters where you stick it ASR/ASP? Wassat? ESP? Did that come on after the reset?

Re: Another Aussie on Board
ESR is the stability control and no it was on before the reset - I had hoped that the reset would fix it too as the car has not gone into limp mode and feels unaltered. The switch is flashing on and off and the dash light is constantly lit plus I get the warning in the centre console screen each time I start that ESR is turned off.

Re: Another Aussie on Board
Im guessing (seeing how they work using ABS sensors) that you have a fault with your ABS somewhere.
