Google ads bar

Post by steve_earwig »

Is it just me, or has the Google ads bar moved up the page so it's always below the first post? Anyone else find it annoying?

Yes I've noticed it and it is bloody annoying.
I accept that a site needs advertising revenue but not when it's stuck right under your nose so you may mistakenly click on it.

Unfortunately guys I've had to sort of shift the ads around a bit to a more prominent position.

I accept that some may find it annoying, but the ads bring in less that $50 a year (yeah - dollars). Along with donations (which theres been none of for around 7 months), thats the only revenue the site gets.

I'll try and tweak the code to get more relevant results, and hope they aint too annoying just now.. :S

Sorry again folks! :D

N
Thanks,
Nick

So, will we end up with an ad bar between each post? Will I have to include a plug every time I post anything??

Actually, it's probably best to keep them wildly irrelevant for our amusement :cheesy:

TBH I do feel a bit guilty that you need this stuff to stay in pocket, I'd hit the PayPal button but I'm not sure I trust them (it's my Scottish blood I tell ye). So, what does it actually cost? I've got no idea!!

Hmm, there's always Western Union...

Maybe a concerted whip-round is in order?

There must be 10 of us regulars who can stump up say - £3 to £5 each into the kitty? if it will help?

How much did DaiRees stickerz raise for the club?

Good idea Welly. What are your yearly running costs for this site Nick?

Well if the current (3rd) batch all sell there'll be about £50 clear profit, but at the moment they ain't selling too quick

We need to decide whether we're going to do another batch once the existing ones have run out. I reckon if we all push them, and maybe put a direct link on the home page, we could sell a lot more, but at this pace I don't intend to shell out for another batch after this one's finished. If we're not doing another batch the proceeds from the remaining stickers can go straight to Nick as and when they come in.
