Hold on a mo, they all stopped working on my pc at home too, I got so pee'd off web pages crashing my pc I'd made it almost impossible for programs to do anything in my browser. When I reset the security settings (Internet Options - Security - Custom Level) it all went right again, I seldom use the damn thing anymore so it's in no danger.

They look sh*t and take huge amounts of bandwidth and (if you have 50-odd browser tabs open) ram

I'd go for the compromise of just a simple 50KB limit on sigs and 10KB on avatars. Makes it a lot cheaper to read the forum on a mobile connection!

You're always going to get animated adverts anyway. What about switching off images? Not ideal, I know.

But the fact is websites are getting bigger and more image dependant.
