With the 305 completely stripped and ready to get either sandblasted, or acid dipped to sort out the rust it will be getting resprayed, having spent the time taking it apart and whatever time is needed to sort the rust i would like to change the colour to a bright red colour, perhaps get some 205 GTi alloys, (or the original rare 305 alloys) and some french yellow fog lights below the bumper.
This is a picture of the car before stripping it, if anyone is good at photoshop try and change the colour of it to see what it might look like, the two tone black paint along the bottom will definatley be gone:
After looking on the internet this is the colour and look i have in mind for the 305:
Has anyone got any other good ideas of what colour would be good, Rhodes or China blue are possibilities, A team black with a red stripe, Plain white etc.
What colour should i paint the 305

I really think it should be a colour that was current for the 1985 year, also I would be careful to try to find alloy wheels of the same era if you can. Personally I think 205 GTi wheels would spoil the overall look.
I really like this colour:
Wheels like these I like with fat squishy tyres:

Re: What colour should i paint the 305
I'm crap with colours so I can't decide, although I did an image search yesterday, they look good in white (!) and a bit shite yellow...
What are the long-term plans for this? I'm you plan on flogging it then back to standard it is.
I suspect Welly is a bit of a purist like wot I is, if the wheels weren't available to the car when new then I wouldn't entertain fitting them. Same with the colours too I guess.

I would go for original, or if you wanted to lift it a bit I still love the Diablo Red of my original 406.

Anything but red.... It's the only colour that tends to visibly fade. Even my girlfriend's 59 plate red Swift is showing signs of fading...

I'd have to agree on the back to standard option, as for wheels I quite like nicely painted steelies in tasteful black with suitable retro style centre caps as a way to lift older cars.

Re: What colour should i paint the 305
I dont have any intentions of selling the 305s, they are safe inside the mushroom house, and being kept in there means there isn't really any worries about paint fading.
The other 305 still has its original paint, and although it will need a respray to sort out the odd spot of rust here and there it will be kept completely original:
It will be there completely for originality purposes, However B639PPV will be getting a diesel engine so it will already be a bit of a mule so to speak, so i dont mind changing the colour on it or adding a pair of below bumper fog lights,
I've always liked the look of a red car especially the estate in the picture, if it was painted with good paint and kept polished it shouldn't fade.
As for the alloys this would be the correct original 305 alloy that would suit it best:
