The 170 has an 1800 bar fuel system and piezo injectors capable of up to 9 separate injections / cycle, compared the 136's 1350 bar & 3 injections / cycle. Not sure how the twin turbo setup compares with the AP1549 VNT on mine, but it's not likely to be a retrograde step. The newer engine seems to be aimed more at better low speed response than out & out power.rwb wrote:Wow.
Well the 2.2 170 maps to 215. Makes you wonder how much of that 136 --> 170 is hardware and how much is software.
On the run to the Gaydon meet, Disco and I did a little 'research' - the C5 won on low end response, but I suspect the Dogmobile actually had a few more beans ultimately. TBH it was probably due to the very wide power band you get with a remapped DW12. Lots of more modern stuff is as quick or quicker, until it runs out of puff and has to change gear.
