Which HDi?

(Source: Parkers. There's something funny going on with the 163s.)

Of course, which one you pick depends on what you want it for.

For lowest total cost to buy and run: 406 HDi 90.
Otherwise, I think it's just a question of how much you want to pay.

I'd choose the one which is not listed... the 2.2 liter from the 508 GT :D
2001 2.2HDi saloon Executive (not the English exec, worse!) in Obsidian Black. Semi-Mux D9, build code 8761

Errr, what why when how who? Is this which engine we got (half are redundant) or which engine we want (you missed off the 1.6)?

That engine is disqualified for not being available with a manual transmission :P

Disqualified because I don't like it.

for my amusement.

I keep looking around because my 406 is rather shabby -- and rather slow. I've also had a few long motorway runs recently and it's just not as graceful and effortless as it used to be. However, it is still doing very well what I got it for -- being comfortable and cheap to run.

I've had the graphs for a while, and I made the table to see if there is any "obvious" choice in terms of speed or cost or, well, anything.
I don't think there is really. You pays your money you takes your choice.

Now there's a compelling reason for buying a 406. (This is still the plan if mine drops dead tomorrow.)

Uhm, you are right.
Then the 2.2HDi 170 biturbo. Nice engine!

Wondering, the 2.2 liter diesel in the modeo, 200hp, is the same of the 508 GT, but has a manual gearbox. Which gearbox do they use?

Apparently the 2.2 ford is their own creation and shouldn't be confused with a proper engine.

Same goes for the 1.6 HDi, IMHO. Interestingly, (according to Parkers), all 407 HDi's have 20k service intervals, apart from the 1.6

Exactly.

Are turbos considered a service item on the 1.6? :P
Or maybe just whole engines? :P
