Ive been with 02 so long i remember them being called bt cellnet, in fact my sim card was a bt cellnet one until i got a sony ericsson a few years ago with 3g and had to get an upgraded sim, but the numbers been the same since the bt cellnet days. Back then the deal may not have been the best value, but then they brought out the unlimited bolt on £15 a month and theres unlimited calls and texts to 02 which everyone i know is on, then with the blackberry i got put onto the blackberry bolt on which is the same price but now i get push email added. And i get to use the £15 for the cross network stuff.

I've been on Vodafone for 18 mths now, and just upgraded for another 18 mths to a Nokia N8.
Previously I was on T-Mobile for 6 years, O2 for 1 year, also had PAYG with O2, T-Mobile and Orange.
Not had a problem with any of them.

I am on O2 as well. Good coverage in most areas and decent prices.

Avoid T-Mobile - it may look cheap but there's a reason

tmobile are crap too expensive, 02 actually sens out free sims so you can give to family and friends so the unlimited bolt on makes even more sense.

Vodafone seems to give the best coverage.

3 are shite. Poor coverage, and they are to this date the only company I've ever had a mobile phone contract with who only ever called me to offer me mobile phone contracts ... while I had a contract with them. When I cancelled my contract and switched back to Vodafone, the sales calls ceased, and I've never heard from them since.

Orange seem to be OK for coverage, but they tend to do some really bizarre things when it comes to price plans. Take their mobile data microSIM cards (for iPad), for example. You pay them a minimum of £20 a month. But you don't get any inclusive data transfer with that - so on top of the £20 a month, you then have to pay money for transferring data. On Vodafone, you get your £15 or £30 a month microSIM, and you get 1 GB data transfer with the £15/m and 3 GB data transfer with the £30/m. Why would I pay Orange more for less? :frown:

Haven't been on T-Mobile since they were called one2one. And I point-blank refused to join BT Cellnet (now O2) given their affiliations. I'm very anti-BT; they seem to take the piss an awful lot, and hardly a month goes by without a sales call or two from them asking when I'm coming back to them (hint: never). Probably not fair on O2 now, as I don't think they've got much (or anything) to do with BT anymore.

nope 02 is as detached from bt as citroen is from maserati now. no connection with them at all, in fact the two deny any existance of bt cellnet these days.

T-Mobile since 2001 (when it was One2One). Still using my original SIM.
Only on my third handset, so they should love me. But clearly they don't.
I get what I want at a price I will tolerate.

Awful though mobile phone companies are, they're still far better than BT.
I had to fight hard to get BT to connect the landline -- and all I want it for is the broadband. It got that bad with the call centres that I got the direct number for someone in their head office in London. Then when there was a fault on the broadband I had to fight hard to get them to test the line: the call centre c**t insisted that the problem was with my equipment (it wasn't).
I really resent them tying broadband to the telephone packages.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Been with Orange for years but moved to the New Forest area about 7 months back and coverage is shyte. complained and wanted to cancell my contract coz they can't give me what I pay for. They told me I have to buy out of it.
In three months when my contract ends I'll switch and on point of principal won't touch them again no matter what they offer.
