I don't know anyone who aspires to owning a Lexus - I was just making a joke, saying that anyone who does want one isn't the sort of person you would want to speak to

I agree totaly, i can appreciate that they are very well made cars, ive been in a few theres buttons everywhere they are very well equipped and very refined. But their dashboards can look a bit plasticky lexus using plastic buttons found in the toyota hilux for example wheras in the s class mercedes they are finely made aluminum things. They also are hideous looking things, with no character and thats why id never want one. In top gear why did jeremy clarkson describe james mays lexus as a masons car, in fact he has referred to lexus being their car of choice a few times?

I dont think i have to say too much on this subject, I would have another 7 series in a blink of the eye if the roads here were worth it, so im after a Range Rover with the same M62 4.odd litre engine in it, sadly this means i will have to have a P38 which is the rangey with all the electrical gremlins but that engine is to die for, smooth powerful and sounds like a real V8 should, oh i miss my 7

I would never have a new BMW for all the reasons mentioned here, it just has the wrong image, like you are trying too hard.
I would happily have an older M5 too, but that is more just because they are bloody good fun to leather about in, you can keep your mercs i dont like em, it seems the norm is to be one camp or the other with the German prestige marques and i am firmly in the BMW camp,
Audis, they are ok i spose but every middle management wannabe w@nker has one as a company car, no not for me Ta.

Its still the king of the hot hatches and not a vw so i like it. With ford you dont have the satifaction of really knowing where its from, with a peugeot we just blame the french for the electrics, or in a fiat its italian shite. But when a ford breaks who gets the blame.
Also opel is german, that means vauxhall is a bit german, still wouldnt touch one with a barge pole.

Whats wrong with mercedes benz, why only 2 votes. I know if your buying older stuff from the 90s bmw had the upper hand but now i think mercedes is back in the game, theres the choice between a SL65 amg or a 6 series wouldnt the merc be better, the same with their new s class (the s65 not the s63 on top gear) vs the 7 series

I guess there's a lot of ex-BMW owners on this forum, hence the extra votes for BMWs

Having seen 3 of them struggling to move anywhere other than sideways on a pretty unimpressive upward slope today, I certainly see the value in a front-engine, front-wheel-drive car (i.e. I overtook them with no bother, and left them to it)

Still took me 2 hours to get to work this morning, bloody traffic, useless council, no sign of any feckin gritters during the day. My office is only 7 miles from my house too
