HDI 110 Temp gauge and air con fixed !

Post by Rog21 »

After much head scratching and trial and error my air con and Temp Gauge now works
The problems are in my previous thread it had seemed to go away but then stopped working again
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7230

The fault was caused by the engine to car wiring loom connectors. These are two
large connectors under the battery box and can be disconnected by pushing the blue
cover at right angle to the connectors (from underneath the car).

When I tried to remove one it wouldn't come off because one of the pins was
rusted to the socket. Eventually got it off but broke pin. I stripped out battery box and
removed mounting for plugs so i could get at the sockets to clean. Once cleaned and wd40 'd
I made a new connection for the broken wire outside of the socket. The wire was the feed from the temp sensor
in the block.
the temp sensor is used by temp gauge and air con to decide if it wants to come on.
The plug was corroded because it has a rubber seal on the bottom which was being pushed away
from the mounting bracket by some rust, hence water got in.

I can imagine this could cause all sorts of electrical problems so would recommed looking and wd40 ing it if
you have any problems with electrics under the bonnnet.

I read somewhere that's a likely cause of the one headlamp not working thing.
