406 blower.

Post by sprinter199 »

hi everyone,
i have had problems with my heater blower working intermittently for weeks.
i have checked the usual fixes as suggested on here. ignition switch ok. plugs on blower ok and various other bits and bobs.
dont know if this has been mentioned on here before, but between the blower and the passenger door hinges, under the felt flap, is another plug. it has grey and a green wire facing you as you look but red and a black one to the fan.
this plug looked ok but i took it out anyway and it fell to bits in my hand. the back of it had melted and turned black.
cleaned up the terminals and yea!!! blowing like mad.
hope this may be of help.
doug.

Thats where mine went

Removed that plug, and used some high rated spades

However they are now playing up, and my electronics wizz mate reckons I'd need to pay between £10 - £20 for good enough connectors, he's going to solder the wires together for me
If it ever needs to come out, it's just a case of desoldering

this fault has been on before. good of you to post it mate it will help others search easier.

here are pics of my own fix. i used plastic 30amp connector blocks

from this . all burnt as you said. mine also shattered when i unplugged it

to this. i cut the wire ends back and stripped the outer bit off the ends. and pushed them into the block , the blocks have screws in to screw the wire tight and make a proper connection
