My passenger side fog light on my HDI 110 got cracked badly somehow today i dont have enough to get a new one before my MOT next tuesday is it an MOT failure and does anyone know where i can get a new one cheap tried local scrappers but theyre either already broke pr the wrong side.

You only need a working drivers side rear fog lamp.Take out the bulb on the broken one and tell them it isn't meant to work as it has no bulb.Front fogs don't matter.

Ahhh right i didnt realise that so would they fail it with the bulb in then as the light works just lens is smashed

I assume it is a rear one? You only need a working drivers side rear.Best to remove the bulb if it's a rear, I don't think it would fail anyway, but if it has no bulb, they can't complain, however, if it is showing a white light to the rear it is a fail.

No sorry front passenger side forgot to mention that part.

with regards to front fog light for MOT purposes they are not a requirement as some cars dont have front fog lights at all so they are not required to be tested at all if the only time they can become a fail is if a member of the public brushes past the car and can catch them selves on the loose or broken pieces.

if any lense is cracked or broken, it is a MOT failure. thats what I was told by dva over here in NI.

My smashed n/s/f fog has gotten through a few MOTs surprisingly.

mine has been totally smashed for years, no problems

If its sharp and can cut people then its a failure. Just remove it for the MOT if its that bad...

Or put some gaffer tape over it. Or both of them. Or over the tester's eyes...

Took it for the MOT today and it passed left the fog light as it is and just put some of that brown cellotape on beforehand, guess i will have to get a new fog light which i have found for £20 not sure if thats cheap or expensive though.
