Having looked at a number of posts and trawled the internet i wonder what really is the best engine degreser.
I am due to go over and see my old mom tommorow and whilst it is guaranteed she will do a clean underwear check she might just want to look at the engine of my car. After all you wouldn,t want anyone seeing a dirty engine following an accident or breakdown.LOL
I have looked at everything from parafin to toxic waste from a nuclear sub but i wondered what really works.I have little time and am looking for something i can apply, leave for a while and then wash off with a cold power washer. In your expierence are there any wonder cleaners out there that will do the job ?

Autoglym do a nice product called Engine and Machine Cleaner comes in a fat spray bottle and you should use gloves, raggs, a soft brush etc.

After the clean up use Autoglym 'Bumpercare' gelly on the rubber hoses, airbox, battery cover etc.

I would not go spraying water all over your engine as mjb says otherwise you will be seeing an AA man :P

My degreaser of choice is a tin of Gunk. It's good enough to cause light-headedness and dizziness in my garage with the door and window open, so it's not bad stuff  Brush it on, leave, rinse off. It's done a grand job of my gearbox casing (at least the bits I had the nads to get the stuff near at least  ) and bottom engine mount amongst other bits. Worked well stripping a 1/2" layer of crud from my gearbox mount bracket too 8)

Thanks guys. I should have explained a little better but it was early and just got in from a killer night shift.
When i brought my thumper about 3 years ago it had a rocker leak which i fixed soon after. However i didn,t clean all of the crud off of the engine and i had quite a bit of old baked on oil to deal with.
Went over to the local moto store and got the "GUNK". HELL ITS EXPENSIVE> But what a cleaner. It has taken off almost all of the years of cack and crud and she looks like good. I think that "GUNK" have links with the nuclear sub industry.IT DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN. LOL
Once again thanks for the advice. Please let her start in the morning
