are the high pressure air con pipes very expensive for D9's? 2.0 Hdi if that makes any difference

had my air con looked at today and the high pressure line that crosses over the low pressure line at the front has developed a leak, i saw it for myself

are these pipes expensive?

Any chance of a picture ? if its one of the 2 pipes that go under the battery tray and
at the back of the brake servo then into the bulkhead these come as a pair £68 i had
mine renewed at main stealers , the pipes replaced system re-gassed £300
could be cheaper if its one of the other pipes .

heres a pic of the pipe in question



you can see the yellow dye leaking from it, the guys says its likely to be 3hrs plus the cost of the part, regas is included

mine went in the same place. replaced pipe myself took about a day to do. pain as you have to remove the servo and cross over bar

i might just pay someone else to do it if its a fiddly job i hate them kind of jobs, last thing i did on mine was a broken suspension spring, which was pretty annoying because i needed to use two sets of spring compressors becuase the spring was huge and 1 set wasnt long enough...took ages

how much did you pay for the pipe?

i think the pipe was about £50-£60 mate

like i said they come as a pair £66.78 from main dealer but you could probably get them
fitted cheaper at independant garage .

I did a 'Top Tip' once to help prevent this problem......

Just been quoted £190 for the whole job, part, fitting and regassing of the system.

does anyone have a part number for that pipe so i can call a few other garages and get some different quotes

i'm not exactly jumping for joy at the prospect of paying £200 to fix my aircon

For £190.00 that doesn't sound too bad to me.

Pipes: £70.00
2 hrs Labour: £80.00
Refrigerant, dye and oil: £40.00

Total = £190.00

Makes sense to me

yeah, you're right, i think its more that its having to pay it, it caught me by surprise, ah well, it'll be worth it when its done, especially if the summer is going to be as hot as people are saying

About the same I suppose although the Volvo suffers with glare off the dash

6460 R1 is the part number , and i agree with welly £190 is a very good price
