Can anyone help I have a 406 Estate 52 plate 2litre but the automatic gear change is poor. It holds in gears too long before changing up and also changes down gears as you slow all in a very jerky manner. Anyone have any suggestions what I should try. I cannot find a point to top up the gearoil:

First thing to do is to change the transmission fluid. Automatics often behave like that once the oil's old and tired.

I agree with Dai, don't forget the filter though.

You fill up the oil through the dipstick hole usually on automatics, unless it has a special filler hole.
