Exhaust rattle located - flexi section

Post by nimike »

After a new of months trying to locate a rattle coming from the exhaust, brought it back in to Quick Fit (lol) as they had replaced the centre pipe under warranty as the baffles had gone in it. I thought that it could have been the same problem again. They guy took the car for a drive and told me that it was coming from the front section but he wasnt sure. He got the car up onto the ramp, revved it and located the problem with the front flexible section. Replacement is 225 quid all in but he told me to turn the radio up a bit and not to bother spending the dosh. Very nice of him indeed, as before not just them but alot of garages would have said that it needs replacing.

How does 225 sound? Just wondering anyway, not going to get it changed unless the cat goes.

Take your car as far away from Kwik-Fit as quickly as possible, and take it into a local independant garage instead.

Get another quote. £225 is a whole crapload of money, and is enough to replace the whole exhaust system on most cars, never mind part of it.

Chances are, a reputable local garage will be able to locate the problem and repair it, or just quote you for the section of the exhaust system that has gone awry.

Words of wisdom. Just do a search on here for Kwik-Fit horror stories
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

HI,

If you're prepared to fit it yourself then a good wholesaler like

http://www.cesuk.com/

(where I go) should give a good price.
