engine warning light

Hello, im new to this site.
I have had a 406. 1.9td (r reg) for three years with no real problems, i was driving yesterday, when i got the revs up to 3000 the engine management warning light came on and i lossed power, as soon as i let the revs drop the light went out and the engine ran fine but as soon as i took revs back upto 3000 the same thing happened again and it does it all the time now, it also took a bit to start the engine this morning where it usually starts straight away, if i dont give it any throttle it starts ok. any help would be appreciated.
