406 hdi 110 gearbox change - any tips ?

my 406 hdi 110 will be getting a box put in shortly (when i run out of excuses :cry: ) has anyone done a 110 clutch or box change ? im looking for tips on best method, does subframe need complete removal etc etc. cheers. ps bigger box than 90.

heres a tip for anyone else doing one .
dont do it alone (as i did) its heavy :lol:
as manual says, drop the subframe as its an easy job anyway.
clutch needed bleeding, resevoir needs to be full full full or it takes in air.
dont take gear cables out of bracket, remove bracket with them attached.
later models with plastic cover on clutch cyl hole in belhousing , dont need a special tool to re engage thrust bearing.lever / bar will do.
my steering wasnt 100% so i had it setup on alignment, apparently it was pretty close tho. the subframe wont move far anyway.

Should be able to free up enough pipework to remove the slave cylinder without removing the pipe

Why did the box need changing? they're pretty tough old things usually :?

it would not engage 4th gear. drove it with no 4th for 6 months lol :lol:
i think its a pin sheared and somethings moved inside as it played up in neutral the day before.
