I meant extra space in the tank thats not specified in the manual. I'm gonna let my tank run down to dreggs at the weekend and fill it to the brim. Hopefully we'll see what i can get in

As of tonight im on 805 miles with still 2 white segments on the fuel gauge before the red!!!!

The computer is saying 110 miles to empty as well.

I reckon another 50 miles will see me chicken out before i fill it up. Only then will i be able to work out how true the economy is, either way im still bloody impressed.

yeah lol

use the car for work, driving about any quicker gets you there a few minutes quicker and stressed. My work mates get there a little quicker but nothing worth worrying about :)

As a result the car runs like a dream!

As i had a lengthy trip from work today, i bottled it and filled up last night. 68.57 litres to fill to the brim, so by my reckoning there was just under a gallon left, but not wishing to stir up all the crap in the tank that was low enough for me.

It'd done 815 miles at that point, so i get it to be 54.02mpg. Thats me a happy bunny for now!!!!

Not so happy that it was £68.50 to fill it... :( :(

The 406 tank is much bigger than the 407s. I wondered why. Until i found this quote from TG magazine (The people who hate 406s and all peugeots) . "Much like the 308, the evolution of the 406 into the Peugeot 407 seems to be more about aesthetics than anything else"

Hi all.

Just had a few days away with all the family onboard and the estate boot absolutly fill. Did an average speed of 54 MPH and an average MPG of 56. This was a mixture of most types of road from Somerset to Arundel and around the area. I think that is pretty good for a big heavy estate fully loaded.

What other car with anything like the same comfort and equipment would come close to that?

Have a good Easter,

Richard.

here in OZ we go with litres and kilometeres but i regularly get over 1400 klms out of about 68 litres, so that would equate to about 1000 miles for a full tank.

And as for TG, I don't think they have a clue what

a) Constitutes a good car and
b) What a car is for.

In fact after seeing what they did to the Renault Alpine   , I'm convinced that their program "seems to be more about showmanship than anything else"

It was a stunt that was in poor taste.

The 406 HDi (can't recall if it was a 90 or 110) used to hold the world record for highest economy achieved on a public road, and longest range on a public road, until the 308 HDi110 stole bother records. If memory serves, it was done in new Zealand and the range they achieved was well in excess of 1000 miles.

I reckon 1000 miles out of a tank would just about be possible if the conditions were right.
